UDF MLAs will not be made scapegoats: CM ChandyThiruvananthapuram: Unperturbed by the allegations raised by the Opposition LDF, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday said that his government will not allow the UDF MLAs to become scapegoats as they have committed no mistakes during the melee inside the assembly on the budget day.
“Our MLAs have done no wrong. People saw what happened on Friday inside the assembly. The government will not let them be scapegoats,” Chandy told reporters in a press meet he convened soon after Speaker N. Sakthan suspended five LDF MLAs over the ruckus that took place on Friday.
It was after the CM moved a resolution demanding action against the five MLAs-V. Sivankutty, E.P. Jayarajan, K.T. Jaleel, K. Kunhammed master and K. Ajith-that Speaker suspended them, following which the LDF staged a sit-in in the Well of the House and then stormed out of the assembly shouting slogans.
“LDF continued to show that they had no respect to the power Speaker has in the assembly. They did not follow his orders. People know this as they are watching the happenings in the assembly,” Chandy said.
The CM also took a dig at Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan for the manner in which he spoke in the assembly saying that 'VS has lost his mental balance'.
The Chief Minister also justified the action taken against the MLAs. “Had we not taken action against those five MLAs, we would feel guilty in front of the people of Kerala,” Chandy said.
